LocationBlue Dolphin Resort, Xai-Xai, provides self catering holiday or corporate accommodation at Praia de Xai-Xai (Beach of Xai-Xai), Gaza, which is approximately 250km North of Maputo in Mozambique. Praia de Xai-Xai is developing rapidly and will soon become a tourist haven. There are currently 7 resorts in this stretch of beach area, all in different stages of development and all with the vision of being able to ensure great holidays for their guests. The Praia de Xai-Xai area is 10km of relatively quiet unspoilt beaches. There are two natural bay areas that are situated at either end of Praia de Xai-Xai and are formed by natural reef. We have some beautiful reef that runs right up to the beach, and in between the two bay areas are waves for the more adventurous.--Accommodation/RoomsThe resort is still in its infant stages and currently has one self catering house that sleeps up to 10 people. The house does not have air-con but there are fans in the rooms and mosquito screens on the windows. There is a TV with GOTV which has some DSTV channels but not much sport.The chalet is large and spacious, with a large covered verandah for those 'not so good' weather days. There are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a lounge, kitchen and, of course, a private verandah overlooking the ocean. The music from the bar can be heard from the chalet and the bar runs till between 10pm and 1am most nights and 3am in holidays. BedroomsIn the main bedroom there is one double and one single bed. Bedrooms two and three have two single beds in each. The large lounge has a double and one single bed. All bedrooms have ceiling fans with no air-conditioners. All beds have mosquito nets and all bedding is supplied. BathroomsOne bathroom is en-suite to the main bedroom and consists of a shower, toilet and basin. The other bathroom is shared by the remaining rooms and consists of a bath, shower, toilet and basin. Towels are supplied.KitchenThe kitchen is set up for self-catering guests. It has a four plate stove with oven, fridge/freezer, deep freezer, crockery, cutlery, utensils and glasses. BraaiA charcoal braai is available for use. ParkingParking is available directly outside the chalet, but at the moment it is only for 4x4 vehicles. Some very decent fish have been pulled out in the area from Shad to Couta and all sorts in between.- Deep Sea: If you intend on bringing your own boat / jet ski / fishing ski to use here please be aware of the costs involved.  They are set by the Maritima office and are payable directly to the Maritima office.  Please take note that it is important to speak to the local fishermen about the launch sites before attempting to launch - it is not as easy as it looks! WHALE WATCHINGThe humpback whales come to our area every year between June and November. They can be clearly seen from the beach and are amazing to watch. You can also go on a whale watching deep sea charter with the boat above. BEACHESPraia de Xai-Xai is definitely the place to relax on the beach. With long, clean, sandy beaches you can find yourself a private spot or join the crowds. There are two bay-like areas that are protected by reef which make for safe swimming, rock pools to play in and waves for the more adventurous.  Please note there are no shark nets or life guards. QUAD BIKESQuad bikes are allowed in the area, there is a 6km sand road going to the old hotel at Chongoene. Driving on the beach is not allowed and you will be fined.  The fine is currently R1500 per offender. The sand road has a speed limit of 30kmph.  Please respect this limit for your safety and ours. Quad tours are available in the area. RESTAURANTSThere are numerous restaurants in the area which provide for a varied menu choice and atmosphere. Explore and enjoy. SHOPPINGIt is possible to draw cash from the ATMs in town with your SA VISA or MAESTRO bank cards. There is a large market in town that deserves a visit and has a huge variety of goods on sale. There are many shops in town that sell anything you could possibly need. There is also a Saverite, Shoprite U Save and Kentucky Fried Chicken. Curio sellers sell local and cultural gizmos.  Rands are accepted almost everywhere and dollars are also accepted in many places. DAY TRIPSTake a trip to the surrounding areas:  Chizavane, Chidenguele, Zongoene and Bilene. All have restaurants and beautiful beaches.--More Info- The restaurant/bar is noisy and on weekends. Open from lunch time till about 1am, latest 3am.- It is law to get a fishing licence if you go fishing. Rock & surf licence is 400mts per person. Deep sea licence is 500mts per person. If you have a deep sea licence you do not need to purchase a rock & surf licence.  If you have a rock & surf licence and wish to go deep sea you are to pay the additional 100mts to Maritimo.- Xai-Xai City is the Capital of Gaza Province and as such is quite well developed and only 15km away from the beach on tar roads.
